Joshua grew up primarily in Los Angeles and Springfield Oregon. After high school he moved to San Diego where he attended San Diego State University. Joshua was fortunate to spend his junior year abroad in England at Bradford University. The following years saw him trekking to the base of Mt. Everest and living at Dhamma Giri and Bodhgaya in India. While working at a folk music cafe in San Diego he met his wife, Karen Orantes.

Karen and Joshua traveled together up to Canada and back, eventually settling in North Fork after a two year stay in Santa Cruz. While in Santa Cruz Joshua completed his credential in Montessori primary education.

Joshua is curious about everything, and has a keen interest in building community.

Graphic and poster art have been a focus for Joshua all his life. The works of M. C. Escher and Alphonse Mucha excited his love for the poetry of image. He started working with recorded media in 1973 through his first tape deck. This began a commitment to finding and sharing the best in human thought through recorded media with friends and acquaintances. Art and audio are now combining in webwork and movie conversions.
